A WIN AT BOAT STREET! - 4.22.08
The Brad Lewis Memorial Criterium is one of the premier events in the local road racing season, and is always organized and run well by the folks at Recycled Cycles. This year the weather held until the men's Cat 3 race in the late afternoon, giving Craig Etheridge a chance to grab the Cat 4 win on dry pavement in the morning. Craig hung toward the back of the pack for the first several laps before creeping like a stealthy little tiger up to the front, and eventually into the break. With one lap to go, Craig made a break for it on turn one, screamed through the downhill at corner three, and held on for the decisive win.

AVA/CBBers Nate and Byron held strong in the Cat 5 race before a crash during the final sprint dashed their podium hopes. Top ten finishes and no injuries for both - a definite success. Brett bravely jumped into the Cat 3 race and smartly jumped out when the conditions turned wet. Todd Gallaher, after taking third at Volunteer Park the day before, staved off the many crashes in the Pro/1/2 field to cross the line safe and sound, if not a little drenched and dirty. Great work guys!

GREAT START - 4.4.08
AVA/CBB is kicking off the season right with Todd Gallaher leading the charge in the Pro/1/2 category already scoring a handful of top five finishes. New to the team for '08, Aaron Huebner took an impressive first place finish at Independence Valley, a tough, hilly circuit course that doesn't let up. Two exciting races are coming up this weekend - the Brad Lewis Memorial Criterium and the Volunteer Park Crit - and we're hoping to carry this successful momentum into both.

We here at AVA/CBB headquarters would like to thank our fantastic sponsors, especially Anthony at AVA Real Estate and Adam and Peter at Counterbalance Bicycles. We appreciate your support! Check out the second Counterbalance location that opened up in the old Ti-Cycles space on the Burke Gilman on March 1st - now featuring Independent Fabrications frames!

We're also proud to add several new racers to our roster this season and look forward to ridin' some bikes with 'em. Keep an eye peeled for a Web site redesign in the works now.
